Note: The cover price of the Monday to Friday NT News increased to $2.80 on February 27.

There were 347 full-page ads in the NT News* in March

There were 148 half-page ads in the paper for the month.

There were 194 quarter-page ads in the paper during March.

That generally did not count:

. Government announcements.

. Covid information.

. Racing information.

. Any folded lift out.

. Any magazine inclusions.

The least number of full-page advertisements (1) was printed in the paper on March 14.

The greatest number of advertising pages (36) were printed in March 18th’s edition.

Stories on crime make up a regular story component. In March there were 63 stories about crime. Many of those stories were detailed on the front pages of papers and inside pages that followed.

There were 1620 pages printed in the papers dfoer March Of these, 468.5 pages were advertisements or 28.9%of paginated pages.

Total number of advertising pages 1251.5 pages

Percentage of pages devoted to advertising. 27.4%

In Addition:

There were nine advertising lift-outs in the paper during March. They totalled 176 pages of print. (Note: Real Estate liftouts in Saturday’s papers are not included.

* Includes both the ‘NT News’ and ‘Sunday Territorian’.

Any announcements of festivals, celebratory weeks, awards presentations and so on (which are advertisements) are generally not included.

On a sad note. March 31 2022 was the LAST DAY a Wicking Cartoon was published in the NT News. Sadly, he has not been replaced and I believe we have the only daily in the Murdock Stable that does not enjoy the comment from a cartoonist.
